Reduce your energy usage in the kitchen with these simple tips


Whether you’re upping your Master Chef skills, or you’ve found yourself sneaking into the refrigerator… for the 4th time in the last hour, more time spent at home means you’re likely spending more time in the kitchen, and with that extra time comes increased energy usage.

Our Marketing & Communications Manager Shayna Doi was on HI Now to share helpful tips on how to save energy in your kitchen. After all, who doesn’t want to save a little extra money?

Watch the video above and head on over to your kitchen to implement these tips – when your electricity bill comes in the mail, your wallet will thank you. Plus, these are all no-cost tips, meaning you don’t need to go out and purchase anything in order to see these savings.

Another helpful tip: If you’re getting take out and you have leftovers, let the food cool down before putting it into the fridge. When we put warm things into the fridge, it makes our fridge use more energy to cool them down.
